| Cataract
surgery is one of the most commonly performed procedures and not surprisingly,
one of the most successful. In a comfortable outpatient setting, in
our state of the art surgicenter, the Physicians of St. Lucie Eye
Associates can perform this delicate procedure. It takes about 10-15
minutes for your surgery, and shortly after that, you are able to
return to the comfort of your home.
But before you even enter the operating room, a complete preoperative evaluation, including use of the Zeiss IOL Master lens power calculator, as well as complete retinal evaluation are performed to maximize the visual satisfaction of the patient.
With
the use of microsurgical techniques, the cataract is removed thru
an incision that is only about 1/8 inch in length and a lens chosen
to give you the best vision is implanted. Our physicians have performed
thousands of operations, insuring you that you will have the benefit
of their experience to give you the best possible result. Your safety
is a primary concern. In view of this, preoperative medical evaluation
is advised. In patients with anticoagulents, surgery is performed
with safe topical anesthesia.
Ask about the newest options in cataract surgery and refractive lensectomy. Surgical correction of astigmatism is now possible with the Acrysof Toric IOL. And both near and distance vision can be obtained, using the newest multifocal or accomodating lens implants. These choices are not appropriate for everyone, so ask your doctor to determine if you are a candidate for these.
