Dr.
Channon has been treating patients using Botox injections for
over ten years. For the most part, this was to treat blepharospasm,
or other ocular muscle disorders. In addition, Dr. Channon has attended the Advanced Aesthetics training for Botox Cosmetic, to provide his patients with the best possible cosmetic improvement.
The
FDA has recently approved the use of Botox for cosmetic use for
glabellar folds. In this safe procedure, minute amounts of Botox
are injected in to the muscles to minimize the appearance of wrinkles
and folds. The Botox acts over the week following the injections,
and persists for several months.
The
procedure is performed in the office. The patient is able to immediately
return to all normal activities. As with any procedure, there is
the possibility of infection, allergy or mild bleeding around the
injection sites.
The cost of the treatment varies with the extent of treatment and the amount of Botox used. Some patients require higher doses for optimal results. Our charge is $15.00 per unit used, with average treatments for "crows feet" requiring 15-20 units, and glabellar creases often needing 25-30 units or more. Smokers periorbital creases, bunny lines, or areas of the chin may require only a few units.
Some
areas are not advised to be treated, such as centrally in the upper lids. However, areas of the brow, crows feel, and with caution areas around the mouth can be improved.
